Teacher Job Description
Objectives
Keep the teaching running smoothly and efficiently while keeping the artwork of the highest quality.
Follow the Drawn2Art program and methodology. In doing so, the studio excels in inspiring students artistically, keeps parent satisfaction to the highest possible level, and enrollment rising.
All students and their family members dealing with the studio (in any capacity) go away feeling well taken care of, cared about, and completely satisfied with all of our services.
While actually teaching, the manager and teacher (or both teachers) are in a co-teaching mode. Teach cooperatively, and help one another to ensure each student is not kept waiting, and that students understand and can carry out the last instruction given to them.
Teacher Overview
Represent Drawn2Art in a professional and positive manner.
Make a fabulous first impression on everyone who walks in the door. Make sure you greet, not only the student, but the parent as well.
Keep your manner friendly and cheerful when greeting students and their families.
Maintain warm relationships with students and their families.
Go “above and beyond” to surprise staff & our clientele, showing how caring and helpful you are.
Share in assuming responsibility for the studio.
Maintain superb, inspirational teaching that results in happy and interested students.
Co-teach with manager/other teacher to keep a smoothly run, quiet classroom at all times. Help create an atmosphere where students are productive, focused and having a good time while learning.
In an emergency*, help with maintaining order in the classroom, keeping students working and on task while the manager/other teacher handles the problem (*unless it is a natural disaster, at which time you would help ensure the students' safety at all costs).
Set a positive, enthusiastic tone and tenor in the studio.
Help maintain the studio’s daily appearance and presentation so that it is neat, clean and professional.
Once at work, all personal problems are left at the door. Remember, children are very perceptive.
Responsibilities
Use preparation time wisely to enhance the studio and make it a place that is clean, tidy and professional.
Make every student feel special; always teaching with the goal of helping each student to become more artistically competent and independent.
Keep yourself moving around the room in a systematic pattern in sync with the other teacher, ensuring students are not kept waiting.
Keep student programs neatly organized and updated weekly.
Ensure all students spend the last five minutes of class cleaning up their areas, their brushes and supplies, and caring for their artwork, always in the spirit of teaching them that this is part of being a competent artist.
While the Manager/other teacher is registering intros and collecting tuition at the end of class, be sure to see that all students are cleaning up their areas, putting away their unfinished artwork properly, and leaving their work area neat. Then begin setting up for the next class.
If there are any problems that do not resolve quickly and easily, and the Manager is not there, let the Manager know immediately what happened so it can be resolved. (Note: without fast and effective solutions to disruptive students, you will lose them and other students in the class as well).
Be sure to meet with the manager/other teacher about any question you need answered regarding daily teaching or students’ progress.
Be sure to meet with the Manager regarding any problems or difficulties you may be having that concern your overall job.
Always keep an eye on all of the students (use 6 & 12) to be sure that they are doing well.
Really look at each students’ and notice if they seem interested, inspired and happy.
Ask each of them regularly if they are having fun.
Any signs, such as boredom, restlessness, frustration, distraction, etc. are “red flags” and should be dealt with immediately by discussing with the Manager/other teacher.
Quality Assurance
Take a minimum of two pictures of finished artwork per week and send to the manager.
When available, also take pictures of students with their artwork, as well as students while working.
