FAQs

Signing up for Classes

  • There are two purposes of the introductory class. For the student and parent, it is to make sure that our program is a good fit for them and matches their interest level. For the teacher, it gives us the opportunity to individually program your student based on their skill level and age.

  • Students are given three images in each section of their program to choose from. This allows the students to have a little selective freedom, while still giving the teachers the opportunity to teach from an image.

  • We schedule a maximum of thirteen students in a class taught by two teachers. All students work on their own, individualized programs. One-hour classes are for

4–6-year-olds, and 1 ½ hour classes are for students 7 years & above. We do not do drop-in classes. All classes are scheduled.

Our Program

  • Drawn2Art’s philosophy is that mastery comes before creativity. We teach fundamentals of art so that students have the tools necessary to create anything they want eventually. In order to be creative, one must first learn the basics. Art, for centuries, has been a skill- based activity and Drawn2Art is continuing this tradition. Picasso was a master of classical realism before he branched out into Cubism and other forms of painting. All the great masters spent years first learning the basics of drawing and painting, before finding their own style. Your tuition pays for instruction that stems from our artistic expertise and experience. This is what we strive to pass on to our students.

Our program is geared to each student’s abilities. However, we adhere to a gradient, step-by-step approach so students are not frustrated or bored. We have a very multi-layered curriculum that has been proven to successfully teach all ages and skill levels, to achieve competency and maintain interest.

  • Painting is “drawing with a brush.” In order to paint well, drawing skills are necessary for the most desired results. Drawing is the tool that our entire curriculum is based upon. In training any student, it is the foundation of thinking and seeing on a visual level. Learning to draw before a student paints is equivalent to learning the alphabet before writing. Drawing is not only the basics (or bones) to painting, but it establishes a hand, eye, and mind coordination. This is a vital part of the growth of our young students.

  • As younger students learn about size and correct proportion, teachers will use “tick marks” as a guide for the student. The student is actually drawing the image. For older students, a teacher only touches a student’s work for purposes of teaching a particular skill. Many times, “showing” by demonstrating is more effective and helps students see the results they are striving to accomplish. Teachers only do this minimally.

  • D2A teachers are hired based on their art education and experience working with children and young adults. Most have art degrees or have taken multiple art classes at the college level. They also receive extensive training in the D2A program and methodology. Their work is critiqued by studio managers and the Director of Training until they show high competency and understanding of our program and curriculum.

  • The best class depends on your student’s age. Since we teach every student individually, students start out at a level suited for their artistic experience and abilities.

  • Yes, we offer camps simultaneously to our regular, year-round drawing and painting classes. Regular classes follow the same schedule as when no camps are running.

  • The more instruction your student receives; the more benefit. This would depend on your student’s level of interest.

Tuition

  • Yes, materials are covered in the cost of monthly classes. The materials we supply are quality art supplies.

  • Unless we are prorating a month (due to a mid-month start date), tuition covers a calendar month. These would be consecutive classes. Tuition covers four classes (if there are five weeks in the month, the fifth class is free, unless we are closed for a holiday, continuing education, staff meetings, etc.).

Missed Classes/Makeups

  • Advanced notice of 24 hours is required or the makeup will be forfeited.

Makeups must be scheduled in a month that students are paid and enrolled.

Two makeups are allowed per month and must be scheduled within 8 weeks of the absence or they are forfeited.

Makeups cannot take the place of regularly scheduled classes.

NO CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN FOR MISSED OR UNUSED CLASSES.

How to Register? Account Login

  • We have found that the 1 hour class is not long enough for students ages 7+, as the images become more advanced and they work with more advanced mediums sooner. Special circumstances can be discussed with the office in advance.

  • We recommend that all new students first schedule a free introductory class. After the free introductory class, if your student is ready to register, please let the teacher know. The office will register the student and send you a confirmation email, or feel free to contact the office for additional class days and times.

  • Visit our website and select the studio nearest to you. Scroll to find the "Register for Camps" button. This will take you to our registration site where you can sign up for seasonal and summer camps. Make sure you select the camp category you are looking for on the drop down on the left side of the screen to begin registration. DO NOT create a new account if your family has been with Drawn2Art in the past.

  • Visit our website, select your home studio, and select "Pay tuition." This will take you to our registration site where you can sign into your account.

  • See instructions above, then select the "forgot password" button (in the upper right hand corner). Enter the email that was used to create your account. An email will be automatically sent to your email address to reset your password.
