WHAT AND WHY WE TEACH?
WHAT IS DRAWN2ART
Drawn2Art teaches students realistic drawing and painting skills as well as clay sculpture. Curriculum and mediums used are varied to develop a myriad of skills. This high quality, fine art program offers art instruction that goes far beyond cut and paste, and arts & crafts. It teaches students to “see” lines, shapes, color and tones in objects, and in life, to understand the fundamentals of drawing and painting. We pride ourselves on being inspirational, art educators enhancing visual intelligence in our students.
ENCHANCES MOTOR SKILLS:
Many of the motions involved in making art, such as manipulating a paintbrush or applying color, are essential to the growth of fine motor skills in young children. Handwriting improves, dexterity is enhanced, spatial relationships are learned, and the ability to recognize and draw shapes are all benefits of art classes for child development.
Skills learned from studying the arts positively affect classroom test scores. Twelve years of data was collected for the National Educational Longitudinal Survey. The study found that students who were highly involved with the arts outperformed less-involved peers. Young people who participate regularly in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, to participate in a math and science fair, or to win an award for writing an essay or poem. A study shared at the Learning Arts and Brain Summit reported that children showed more motivation, paid closer attention, and remembered what they learned more easily when the arts were integrated into their curriculum.

Researchers at John Hopkins University School of Education agree that the importance of the arts in children's lives gives them confidence and builds self-esteem. Studies have shown that when children participate in art activities the feedback between student & teacher builds self-respect by helping them learn to accept criticism and praise. When students put their "all" into an art project, spending hours working on it, and cultivating it, they will feel an enormous sense of achievement when it is complete. Self-motivation and personal pride grow with accomplishment.
Drawing, painting, & sculpting with clay all develop the use of line, tone, color and 3 dimensional perspective. Visual learning has become a premier mode of learning. Even toddlers know how to operate a smart phone or tablet, which means that before they can read, kids are taking in visual information. Some of this information consists of cues that we get from pictures or three-dimensional objects. Young people need to know more about the world than just what they can learn through written content and numbers.
